Treatment Overview

A facelift is a surgical procedure that lifts and tightens the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) layer, which has sagged due to aging. The goal is to remove sagging skin and tissue and suture the incisions to refine facial contours. The extent and method of the incisions are planned based on the areas requiring lifting, as well as the patient’s gender and specific conditions.

Treatment Guide Videos

Recommended Audience

  • For those concerned about sagging skin in the mid- and lower face
  • People with sagging skin that is difficult to improve with non-surgical lifting procedures
  • For those who want to smooth out wrinkles on their neck and along the jawline
  • For those considering surgical facelifts

Treatment Methods and Types

SMAS Facelift

This procedure tightens the skin by lifting the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) layer in the mid- and lower face, as well as the area under the eyes.

Mini Facelift

Although the principle is the same as a facelift, the scope of incisions and dissection is smaller, allowing for partial improvement of specific areas, and swelling and recovery are relatively quick.

Endoscopic Forehead Lift

It lifts the skin on the forehead, eyebrows, and around the eyes to smooth everything from the hairline down to the crow’s feet, and corrects the shape of the eyebrows and eye contours.

Under-Chin Lift

This procedure is performed when there are vertical bands on the neck causing wrinkles; it aims to create a slimmer facial contour by smoothing out neck wrinkles and tightening the muscles under the chin.

Treatment Process

STEP 01

Consulting and Design

We identify the areas of the midface, lower face, and jawline that require lifting to determine the scope of the procedure.

STEP 02

1:1 Customized Incision

We perform customized incisions—such as in front of the ear, below the ear, behind the ear, and inside the mouth—based on factors such as the extent of the lift and the patient’s gender.

STEP 03

Skin Resection and SMAS Lifting

In accordance with the design, we perform a SMAS lift and remove excess skin and tissue.

STEP 04

Delicate Suturing

We finish the procedure by carefully suturing the incision line to conceal it.

Notes

Surgical results and recovery patterns vary from person to person depending on age, skin condition, and the extent of the procedure. Swelling and bruising may occur for a certain period after surgery but will subside over time. We will provide details regarding post-operative care, such as sutures and stitch removal, during your consultation. If you have any underlying medical conditions or are taking any medications, a consultation is required before surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q. Will it leave a scar?

We use suturing techniques that minimize and conceal incision lines; however, the extent of scarring varies from person to person, so we will discuss this with you during your consultation.

  • Q. How long is the recovery period?

This varies depending on the scope of the procedure and the individual’s recovery speed; general guidance is provided during a consultation.

  • Q. How is this different from a mini facelift?

A mini facelift involves a small incision and minimal tissue dissection, making it suitable for partial improvements; the appropriate method will be determined following a consultation.
